A Dinner Date at the Persimmon Plus, Mabolo Cebu City

Last Friday February 18, my husband and I were invited by the Aboitizland for a dinner date at the Persimmon Plus in Mabolo Cebu City. It was kind of like a post Valentine's Day event. Lots of other couples were also invited. I guess the event was also kind of a presentation of some of the shops that are soon to open at the Persimmon Plus, although there were only 2 shops that showcased their products that night -- Happy Rooster, which sells imported home furnishings and caters interior designs, and Urban Living, which is a salon and spa that also sells awesome bath products, I was almost tempted to buy one ^_^.

Anyway, it was really a romantic evening for me and my husband. The food was awesome! It was catered by Dong Juan. They're originally from Manila but they'd be opening a branch soon at The Persimmon Plus to serve their delicious meals for us Cebuanos. My favorite dish from was their Spaghetti. I loooooved it so much that I came back to the buffet table for a second helping, LOL! I wish I had photos of the food but it was a candlelit dinner and my camera wasn't just powerful enough to capture food on a dark background. Sorry guys!
There was also a band which I think was really awesome. They played popular songs which mostly are romantic. Their singers are pretty good, especially their guy singer who has a very soothing voice and almost exactly match that of the original artist's.

After dinner, they held a raffle contest where I won a 20% discount voucher on Oral Prophylaxis from the Bright Smiles Oral Care Center. Awesome! I wonder when I can avail of this service. I think it's been more than a year since I had an oral prophylaxis, hehehe!

So I guess that's all guys. I would really like to thank Aboitizland for inviting us to this awesome event. Wish there are more of this in the future, hehehehe! ;-D

The Rabbit is Here, Welcome 2011!!!

Happy New Year's everyone!!!

It's officially 12:00 AM, January 1, 2011 here in the Philippines and I'm here again to greet you all a happy new year's! So, as with my Christmas Eve post, what did you have for Media Noche? Hehehe, I know, I'm such a food lover so I always ask ^^. We only have pear-shaped ham, pancit, and lumpia shanghai. Then for desserts we have mango cake and Selecta's Coffee Almond Cookies ice cream :)

Fireworks are now all over the place here :) I had to watch over my cats every now and then coz I don't want them roaming around outside with all those fireworks crackling.

Too bad I can't see the celebrations from different countries coz we don't have TV but it doesn't matter. What's important is I have my family with me ^^

So here's a treat for you guys to start the year right :) I couldn't find a bunny/rabbit video so I just looked up cats instead ^^ It's a short one but so cute and funny :) Enjoy!

Have a safe New Year's everyone! And be careful with those fireworks!

CoffeeCat Grand Opening, IT Park, Cebu City

A new cat is in town! Coffecat, a Filipino owned coffee shop that originated from Davao, now opens its paws to coffee lovers in Cebu! Located at eBloc, Asiatown IT Park, CoffeeCat can accommodate a total of 60 guests in its indoor and outdoor seating.

Not only will CoffeeCat be known for its delectable coffees made from premium coffee beans, non-coffee Avalanche Ice Blends and delectable pastries and light snacks, but most specially for its signature product --- the Yogo Premium Frozen Yogurt, which also comes on top of a yummy belgian waffle.

You might be wondering how the name CoffeeCat is coined. As it is obvious, the name CoffeeCat is a combination of two words “Coffee” and “Cat”, the latter being inspired from a cat-sized mammal called civet cat which has a close affinity towards coffee berries. Pretty cool huh! Cool and fun! ;) --- which in fact is the look and feel that CoffeeCat wants to share to its market.

Lee Wins! American Idol Season 9 Finale

First of all, the Cebu Bloggers’ Society would like to thank Greenwhich Pizza for inviting us to the special live viewing of the American Idol Season 9 at the Ayala Center Cebu, Cinema 3. Aside from the live screening of the show, a sumptuous buffet of pasta and a slice of super yummy Greenwhich American Idol Pizza were also served. Raffle prizes of American Idol microphone speakers, laptop cases, and American Idol T-shirts were also given away to some lucky viewers.

It was indeed an awesome and sentimental finale for American as Lee Dewyze is crowned winner and Simon Cowell bids farewell.

Star-studded as usual, American Idol once again wows the audience with awesome performances from great classic and modern artists including three of my all-time favorite female performers Larry Platt, Alanis Morissette, and Janet Jackson. William Hung, who gained fame from his audition on American Idol Season 3, also performed “Pants on the Ground” with Larry Platt.

Previous American Idol winners also gave both separate and group performances, with an exception of David Cook, who was said to be in a charity event thus making him miss the show.

Paula Abdul also showed up as special guest for Simon Cowell, as she quotes Simon's: “You gonna know when to leave the party”.

For almost 10 years now, American Idol has reaped great talents for the next generations to relish. We all look forward to American Idol Season 10!

World Bloggers Day 2010

May 2, 2010. Inititated by the Cebu Bloggers Society, the Philippines celebrated the first ever World Bloggers Day in history. The event was held at Parkmall, Cebu, with "The Cast-away Bloggers" theme, and all attendees were encourage to wear cast-away outfits :)

The event was a success. Many bloggers came, including non-CBS members, a great opportunity for all bloggers to mingle, share, and plug each other's blogs.

International food cuisines were also served by four popular restaurants in Parkmall -- Sai Gon Quan (Vietnamese), Jonny's Fish and Chips Co. (Western), Tandoori (Persian), and my favorite, Shabu Way (Japanese). We'll discuss more about the food later in my next blog post :D

Anyway.....

Masters of ceremony, Andrew and Ethelbert, did a great job in hosting the program. Cool raffle prizes were also given to lucky bloggers. But the best prize was given to Rabsin, who sported the best cast-away outfit. I don’t know if he’d be happy if I’d post his picture here though, hehehe!

Since not all of the bloggers from all over the world can attend the first World Bloggers’ Day Celebration, they just submitted a PowerPoint presentation instead. Among them are Davao Bloggers, Soccsksargen Bloggers, and Manila Bloggers.

It is indeed a great pride to have attended the first ever World Bloggers’ Day in history, and much greater still for being celebrated in my home country. Of course, this wouldn’t have been possible without our sponsors.

Thank you Parkmall for helping us make the First World Bloggers' Day possible!

Talk to you soon guys! Hope to see you in the next World Bloggers' Days to come! :)

Mactan Food Festival 2010

It's that time of the year again to pig out and be merry at the Mactan Food Festival!!! Every year on the last week of April, Mactan celebrates it Kadaugan sa Mactan which commences on the 21st and culminates on the 27th, with a reenactment of the Battle of Mactan, the historic battle between the Portugese-born Spanish explorer Ferdinand Magellan and Mactan warrior chieftain Lapulapu on April 27, 1521.

And one of the highlights of the Kadaugan is the Mactan Food Festival. This year's food festival actually had more participating hotels and resorts. Many people from all over Cebu, including tourists, come to this once in a year event to just pig out, LOL! Well, who wouldn't want to? All the foods here come from the best hotels and resorts in Mactan -- Hilton, Shangrila, White Sands, Portofino, Lancaster, Maribago Blue Waters, Plantation Bay, Vista Mar, Kaishu, etc. -- all priced at less than PhP100!!

With all the people going there, it's hard to get a table, so you need to secure one while you're ordering. Our favorite place is under the Kalachuchi tree :) Also, it's best to be there before the food stalls open at 6:00PM. People even line-up earlier than six just to get world-class food from world-class resorts at very, very affordable prices.

We went on the 25th and 26th, the day before the Kadaugan. We ordered pretty much the same kinds of food both days. We would have wanted to try Shangrila's and Plantation Bay's but the queue is just so long we can't wait that long to order food, LOL.

So we got our food from Portofino, Lancaster, White Sands, and Alta Cebu Villa Resort. Portofino's dishes were all Mexican -- we got Nachos and Buritos each priced at PhP75.00.

From Lancaster and Alta Cebu, we got barbeque, grilled pork belly, and grilled squid. Each priced at around PhP75.00 which already includes 2 pcs of hanging rice (puso), or one cup of rice, for each dish ;)

And finally, from White Sands Resort, we got Linguine with Marinara sauce, Macaroni with Cheesy Tomato sauce, and a yummy, moist chocolate cake for dessert ;) YUM!

The Mactan Food Festival is also not just about foods. They also have stage plays or "kalingawan" such as band shows, raffle contests, singing contests... and on the 26th, a "pre-Kadaugan" reenactment of the time when Ferdinand Magellan first came to Mactan, about 500 years ago.

I couldn't get a good picture of the play because of all the people crowding so I just took a picture of the casts warming up in the backstage :D

And if you're done eating and don't feel like watching the "kalingawan", you can always have your own kalingawan on the sands by the shore ;)

Or perhaps just enjoy the evening with some romantic lights by the sea.

There is also a fireworks display on the 26th, the eve of Kadaugan, or what we locally call "besperas". This year's display lasted for almost 20 minutes or so, people's necks were just frozen, LOL!

Unfortunately I wasn't able to see the Kadaugan on the 27th. I was just too busy at that time. Maybe next year I will.

Thanks for droppin by guys! 'Til next post!
